“Damasgo” takes its name from the Damascus goat, a familiar presence in Cypriot farmlands and in the designer’s own heritage. Known for their hunched noses and long, drooping ears, these goats are not conventionally considered beautiful—but their strength as mothers and their deep connection to the shepherding life make them iconic figures in the island’s culture. This long-sleeved shirt mirrors their form: the collar cut recalls the goat’s elongated ears, while hand-embroidered Damascus goats adorn the chest. On the back, a carnation intertwined with snakes (gufi) is stitched as a talismanic symbol of both fragility and power. With its subtle velcro lapel opening, “Damasgo” challenges the idea of beauty in fashion, embracing the strange, the maternal, and the enduring spirit of the land.
